The Future Homes Hub has worked with homebuilders, the Next Generation Initiative, Homes England, financial institutions and other relevant bodies to develop and agree a single set of climate and environmental metrics for new homes. 

This will help achieve consistent and robust measurement across companies and the sector. This was originally proposed in the Future Homes Delivery Plan, with subsequent commitments in Future Homes, One Plan and One Plan: scaling up delivery.

The next phase of work is to finalise and publish measurement methods for core metrics in Spring 2025 and extended metrics in 2026, with a lead in period to enable companies to align their reporting arrangements.
