BNG Process Flow Diagram Updated

The Hub’s BNG Process Flow Diagram Update

The Future Homes Hub’s Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Process Flow diagram has been updated in collaboration with PAS.

Following BNG becoming mandatory for large sites on 12th February 2024, and 2nd April 2024 for small sites, all planning applications submitted now need to comply with BNG unless exempt. Homebuilders must demonstrate that development increases biodiversity by at least 10%, supporting wildlife habitation and access to nature across the new homes sector.

The objective of BNG is to provide new homes for the people who need them while protecting and improving nature at the same time.

Why the Process Flow?

The Process Flow provides guidance on the steps required to implement BNG on residential projects of all sizes and complexities. It encompasses the greater understanding that the sector now has of the process, terminology and information requirements at each stage.

The steps within the Process Flow are intended to be used as the basis for parties to apply their project-specific flows, including any evolving internal good practices for implementing BNG.
