CEO Update
Now that the Government has broken up for summer recess, I’m writing to update you on Future Homes Hub activity to support the new homebuilding community to meet our shared climate, nature and sustainability objectives in line with the Hub’s business plan for 2024/5. I also share reflections on what will change in coming months as we align our work to the rapidly changing Government landscape.
New Demonstrator Digest Shares Key Learnings for Builders Embracing Low Carbon Homes
With the introduction of the 2025 Future Homes Standard accelerating the move to low carbon homes, it will be vital for the sector to share experiences to meet the changing regulation. The Hub, with the support of homebuilders from across the UK, has published a digest of case studies and key learnings, which covers topics from air source heat pumps to building envelope and embodied carbon.
Homes for Nature commitment launches
UK homebuilders have signed up to a major new initiative developed by the Hub’s industry-led On Site Nature Measures Working Group, and working with the RSPB, Action for Swifts, Hedgehog Street and the NHBC, to support more wildlife on new developments.
Whole Life Carbon Conventions for new homes and free Tool
The Future Homes Hub has published the Whole Life Carbon (WLC) Conventions and launched a free Future Homes Carbon Assessment Tool to support SMEs in measuring the carbon impact of new homes

The Future Homes Hub has released a water efficiency roadmap for the hew homes sector -

Biodiversity net gain is live
From 12 February, all new applications for major developments include Biodiversity Net Gain and from 2 April this also applies to smaller sites. That means as we build the homes we need as a country we will also improve biodiversity by at least 10%.

Low Carbon Homes Trials and Demonstrators Map
